I know the temptation is to rip open the box and look. Don't. Compare the packing list to your purchase order. Check model numbers, quantities, finish codes, and left/right designations. A visual check won't catch a wrong part if both sides look similar. In my first year, I approved a set of panels that looked perfect. Later, one was the right-hand version and the other was also right-hand. The order should have been left and right. That was a $600 mistake I could have caught in thirty seconds.

Here's a trick that costs almost nothing: use cheap shower caps. They sound silly, but they're ideal for protruding parts on elevator fixtures—door sensors, keypads, call button panels. Shower caps are stretchy, they stay on without tape, and they don't leave adhesive residue. We buy them in bulk from a hotel supply store.
